Philosophy History The guiding philosophy for all instruction at Teton Science Schools is twofold: first, experience teaches best, and second, direct association with the local landscape is the most effective way to help students understand and appreciate the natural world. The value of place-based, experiential and integrated learning is widely recognized, and Teton Science Schools' Journeys curriculum provides an effective framework for that approach. Since 1991, Teton Science Schools' Outreach program has delivered Journeys and this philosophy to schools throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and to other parts of the nation. |

Journeys School opened in September 2001 as a program of Teton Science Schools with a commitment to meet the educational needs of every student. The learning environment features small, multi-age, interactive groups with low student/teacher ratios. Interpersonal skills are nurtured as students of all ages work together in activities that incorporate peer teaching and cooperative learning.
