Sara Lashbrook

Sara has a B.S. in Inclusive, Elementary and Special Education from Syracuse University and an M.A. in Sociology and Education from Teachers College in New York. She is an experienced teacher with several years pre-kindergarten, elementary, and special education experience in New York. She also has participated in state and federal educational policy teams and has provided professional development and support services for her colleagues.

Jessica Barksdale

Jessica received a B.A. in Environmental Education from Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. She has also participated in both NOLS and Outward Bound wilderness courses. Prior to coming to Journeys School, she has been a trip leader, outdoor educator, and naturalist for various youth organizations throughout the United States. Her vast outdoor education experience reflects her personal love of skiing, rock climbing, and backpacking.

Travis Gay

Travis received her B.A. in Child Psychology from Hollins University in Roanoke , VA and her MSW from Walla Walla University in Missoula , MT with a concentration in working with children and families. She also completed Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) training at the University of Virginia . Since then, Travis has integrated ABA with various intervention techniques, including dietary intervention and social skills training. She has been working with children and families in Jackson and Teton Valley since 1998. In her free time, Travis enjoys playing with her children, yoga, tennis, and ultimate frisbee.

Erin Smith

Erin has a B.S. in Early Education Pre-K-3 from the University of Vermont from a program that is in harmony with the pedagogy of Reggio Emilia. She is an experienced outdoor educator and has been working with Rippleffect, a youth centered sea kayak and leadership program, for the past four years. In the past year, post graduation, she has kayaked the coast of Maine and traveled to Guatemala to volunteer and to learn Spanish. She is eager to embrace Jackson and the Journey School as her new home. Erin also enjoys astanga yoga, tele skiing, children's books and stomping around in tall red rubber boots.
