Ethan Lobdell — Math/Science

photo of ethan lobdellEthan received a B.A. in Computer Science with focuses on Mathematics and Physics from Vassar College. Prior to coming to Journeys School, he was a math and science teacher in New Hampshire and New York. Ethan has also been an advisor, dorm parent, and Head Soccer Coach for high school age students. Ethan has extensive outdoor experience as an instructor in the United States and Costa Rica and as an avid outdoor enthusiast. Ethan also has extensive travel experience, which included a semester studying in France.


David Porter — English/Language Arts

photo of david porterAfter graduating Cum Laude with a B.A. in English, David earned an M.A. with honors in Comparative Literature from University of Utah. David came to Journeys School with high school and college teaching experience, having taught both English and French. Besides being an avid fly fisherman, biker and skier, David enjoys writing and has a passion for raising his daughter, Sophie.

 


Kjera Strom — Spanish

photo of kjera stromServing the Journeys School in many capacities, Kjera graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University with a B.S. in both English and Spanish Teaching and has studied in Mazatlán, México. Kjera recently completed her Masters of Education with an emphasis in Literacy through Lesley University. Her final project reflected her interest in community connections through bicultural/bilingual exchanges. Raised in Sandy, Utah, Kjera comes to us from Brodhead, Wisconsin, where she taught middle and high school Spanish. Kjera is not only an outdoor enthusiast, but also enjoys traveling to and studying Latino cultures.


Aaron Nydam — Math/Science

photo of aaron nydamAnother graduate of Teton Science Schools' Graduate Program, Aaron joins the upper school of Journeys School after a variety of experiences in science education, most recently teaching at the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning in Denver, Colorado. A certified teacher in Secondary Science, Aaron also has a Masters of Science in Teaching from the University of Wyoming. When he is not at Journeys School you will most likely find him standing in a mountain stream with a fly rod in hand or instructing mountaineering courses for Outward Bound in Colorado.


Shoshana Kobrin— Spanish Languagee

Photo of shoshana kobrinShoshana has a BA in Liberal Arts and Spanish from Colorado State University. She has spent many years traveling in various countries, learning new languages, people and cultures. She loves just about every mountain activity, reading/writing, and yoga. She hopes to integrate all these things as well as her enthusiasm for them in the Spanish World at Journeys School.

 


Drew Overholser — History/Social Studies

photo of drew overholserDrew is one of nine faculty members who have completed the Teton Science School's Graduate Program. Prior to joining the Journeys School faculty, he conducted wetland education for a non-profit program in Montana and taught at all grade levels in the Bozeman Public School District. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in History at Ohio Wesleyan University. While completing his M.A. in American History from Montana State University, he researched methods of teaching history outdoors.


Jill Wright— English/Language Arts

photo of jill wright Jill Wright, a graduate of Jackson Hole High School, Class of 1980, graduated with honors from University of Alaska-Fairbanks with a degree in English in 1985.  She has taught for 20+ years in Alaska, both in the bush and on the "road system", in high school and middle school.  In 2004, Jill completed her MFA: Integrated Arts and Education at the University of Montana: Missoula.  She is an avid walker, reader, and mother of two redheads who also attend Journeys School.
